Keep it light
Some crawlers skip images over a few hundred kilobytes. Exporting JPG at quality 0.8 keeps a 1200 × 630 preview comfortably small while still looking crisp.
Favicons start from a square
Export a 512 × 512 PNG and derive the smaller sizes from it. At 16 px almost nothing survives except a bold, simple shape.
