LinkedIn's placements are unusually wide and unusually short, so photos almost always need a purpose-made crop rather than a reused social image.

Banners are cropped by the interface

On a personal profile the banner is 1584 × 396, and your profile photo overlaps its lower left on desktop while mobile shows a narrower slice. Keep anything essential in the upper right or dead centre.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What size should a LinkedIn post image be?
1200 × 627 works reliably across desktop and mobile feeds.
What size is a LinkedIn profile banner?
1584 × 396 pixels.
Why does my LinkedIn banner look cropped?
The visible area changes with screen width and your profile photo covers part of it. Design with generous margins.
Are my images uploaded to a server?
No. Every step — decoding, cropping, resizing and encoding — runs in your browser using the Canvas API. The image file never leaves your device, so nothing is stored or transmitted by us.
