The timeline preview is not the full image
Tall images are cropped to a wide preview in the timeline. If the point of the image is at the top or bottom, it may be invisible until someone taps — resize to 16:9 so the preview is the whole story.
FAQ
Frequently asked questions
- What size should an X post image be?
- 1600 × 900 (16:9) previews cleanly without unexpected cropping.
- What size is an X header?
- 1500 × 500 pixels; your avatar overlaps the lower left.
- Are my images uploaded to a server?
- No. Every step — decoding, cropping, resizing and encoding — runs in your browser using the Canvas API. The image file never leaves your device, so nothing is stored or transmitted by us.
