Resize an image to 1080 × 1080
1080 × 1080 is the standard square social post: Instagram feed, Facebook, LinkedIn carousels and most ad placements accept it directly.

Landscape and portrait photos need a decision
A square canvas can't contain a 16:9 photo without either cropping the sides or padding the top and bottom. Fill crops; fit pads. For product and packshot images, padding on a matching background usually looks more deliberate than an aggressive crop.
FAQ
Frequently asked questions
- Why 1080 pixels and not larger?
- 1080 px is the width most feeds render at full quality. Larger uploads are downscaled and re-compressed by the platform anyway.
- Can I make a square image without cropping?
- Yes — switch to fit and choose a background colour. The whole image stays visible inside the square.
- Are my images uploaded to a server?
- No. Every step — decoding, cropping, resizing and encoding — runs in your browser using the Canvas API. The image file never leaves your device, so nothing is stored or transmitted by us.
